What does "Ozil Goal AI Trend" mean?

The Ozil goal AI trend is a run of fan-made AI videos that redo Mesut Özil's late winner for Arsenal at Ludogorets in November 2016 with someone else as the scorer: Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Shrek, SpongeBob, a T-Rex. The goal's moves stay the same (a chip over the keeper, two defenders sliding past, a calm finish into the empty net); only the player changes. An Uncle Phil version posted on X on October 8, 2026 passed 1.5 million views, and USA TODAY explained the trend on October 19.
