What does "Gas Station Trend" mean?
The gas station trend is an AI remake of a 2024 road-trip clip in which three friends at a gas station dance by the pumps, film a selfie and step out of a car to Akcent's "On And On". AI remakes that swap in friends, family, pets or famous faces boomed in September 2026, strongest on the Russian-speaking internet, and on October 8 one tracker still counted 40 new posts in 72 hours.
Evolution Timeline
Akcent releases 'On And On (When the Lights Go Down)' (Roton Music); the chorus repeats 'stay with me', which is why the track is also called 'Stay With Me'.
Instagram reel by Adel Veigel (@adelveigel) of three friends dancing at dawn by a car, posted 05:05 PT.
YouTube channel 'Ego?' (@ashab_ahmed) uploads the same clip titled with the names Ravshan, Litvin and Adel, timestamped 03:43 PT.
vc.ru explains the revived trend: original from summer 2024, name 'Делай' taken from a shout in the clip, Seedance 3-photo templates.
Halva describes remakes with Magnificent Century, Vampire Diaries, Twilight characters and politicians.

Origin & Key Figures
Fact-Check & Disclosures
Investigative Findings
Q: Who first posted the clip: Russian sources point to Adel Weigel's account, while our data credits a YouTube copy by "Ego?"; the two were not reconciled.
Both went up on 2024-07-01. The Instagram reel by @adelveigel (one of the three people on screen) is the original; 'Ego?' is a re-upload channel. Note the YouTube timestamp (03:43 PT) is about 1h20m earlier than the reel's (05:05 PT) — likely the reel was posted first elsewhere (e.g. Stories/TikTok) or timestamps differ; credit Adel.
Q: Whether the original clip's song is officially "On And On (When the Lights Go Down)" or "Stay With Me"; both names are given.
Official title is 'On And On (When the Lights Go Down)' by Akcent (2008). 'Stay With Me' is the chorus hook people use as a nickname.
Q: Kavel's counts (88 creators, 40 posts in 72 hours, 38 percent of 47 posts) are its own tracker figures and were not independently checked.
Could not be checked; no independent source publishes these counts. Keep as Kavel-only or drop.
Q: Whether the "one person plays all three" version is common in posted remakes; sources only say the templates support it.
No source documents this as common; not found.
Q: 原视频最早发在哪个账号：我们的数据记为 YouTube 账号 "Ego?"，俄语媒体说是 Adel Weigel。请找到最早的帖子（平台、账号、日期、链接）。
Instagram，@adelveigel（Adel Veigel，画面中人之一），2024-07-01 05:05 PT，https://www.instagram.com/reel/C84SE84t6rv/ ；YouTube "Ego?" 同日 03:43 PT 上传，为搬运。时间戳冲突见 conflicts。
Q: 配乐到底是 "On And On (When the Lights Go Down)" 还是 "Stay With Me"，原唱是谁。
正式曲名 On And On (When the Lights Go Down)，原唱罗马尼亚组合 Akcent，2008 年；"Stay With Me" 是副歌歌词俗称。
