What does "AI Game Merging" mean?

AI game merging is a trend where modders use AI coding tools to combine two video games into one playable mashup, like Minecraft inside Elden Ring or skateboarding inside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It took off on X, YouTube, Reddit and TikTok in late September 2026, led by a creator called Chasm, and Know Your Meme says the AI used is usually Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5. The clips have started a big debate about modding, copyright and what AI can now build.
